On Novmber 2012 the open design competition for a day care center in Beer-Sheba, Israel, for adults with developmental intellectual difficulties was launched. The competition, initiated and organized by the gallery for the Shalem Fund - Developing Services in Local Councils for People with Developmental Intellectual Difficulties, and the Beer-Sheba local council, attracted 122 proposals from Israel and abroad. Following the first selection stage, three proposals were chosen to advance to the second competition stage, with three additional honorary mentions being awarded.
Each participating team was invited to submit up to two printed A0 panels (as well as additional digital files) for review. These panels were submitted anonymously, carrying only the participation number of each team. To create a similar experience, the exhibition will present the competition panels as they were submitted. Visitors in the gallery may receive a list of names of the various participants, if they so choose.
